About Port of Soyo
A strategic infrastructure with decades of history serving the oil industry and the development of the Province of Zaire.
The Port of Soyo is located in the Province of Zaire. It was created by Joint Order No. 65/79, of 28 December, resulting from the need to build a support base for oil activities and also for the Soviet fishing fleet, then stationed in the region. It is the closest port to the territory of the DRC and the Province of Cabinda.
Its main activity takes place on Kwanda Island, where the logistics base serving around 50 companies and the Angola LNG complex (detached by Presidential Decree No. 68/12, of 27 April) is installed.

Port of Soyo: The Roots of a Centuries-Old History
The Kwanda-Lda Base was built, where several companies providing services to the oil industry were installed.
The base was closed during the civil war period, having been looted and mined. Offshore activity was never interrupted, and onshore operations were relocated to Ponta Negra.
"Kwanda Suporte Logístico Lda", a company incorporated in 2001 by agreement between Sonangol and Saipem/Delong, signed the concession contract with the Port Company of Soyo (EPS-E.P) for an area of 126,700 m².
The 2006 contract was declared null and void, and replaced by another covering an area of 19,100 m² and a berthing pier 200 m long, to be built by the concessionaire Kwanda-Lda.
Our History
The Port of Soyo appears for the first time in its history due to the fact that Diogo Cão docked at the mouth of the Zaire River, that is, at the Padrão point in 1482, at a time when all Angolan ports were not yet formally institutionalized.
Our Mission
Manage, develop, regulate, supervise, and control all activities, infrastructure, superstructure, and facilities within its jurisdiction, ensuring the competencies required for the operation of the Port of Soyo.
